Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2—Dr. Seuss's birthday. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too!
Heart of West Michigan United Way is inviting volunteers to visit a local classroom to read a Dr. Seuss classic aloud to students.
The 13 Schools of Hope sites within Grand Rapids Public Schools will be hosting in first, second, and third grade classrooms.
Schools of Hope is a partnership between United Way and Grand Rapids Public Schools that connects community members with elementary schools to help tutor children who are behind in reading. We train tutors to work one-on-one with students in first to third grades. Tutors can choose between 13 elementary schools and spend 30 minutes a week with a student at that site.
